Baguio City, Philippines – As the end-of-year rites draw near, the Department of Education-Cordillera (DepEd- CAR) reminds anew school personnel across the region to not collect fees for any graduation or moving-up ceremonies.

In an interview with local media, Cyril Gaye Miranda, DepEd CAR Regional Information Officer, said that expenses incurred during the occasion should be charged from the school’s Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE).

These include the purchase of medals and certificates.

Miranda stressed that graduation should be made simple to lessen contributions from students or parents unless they voluntarily do so. The use of school uniforms during events is also recommended.

Further, schools should not allow such occasions to be used as political forums as respect for the graduating learners. Befitting the students and their families, graduation should be done solemnly.

The end-of-year rites for this year will take place from July 10 to July 14, 2023.
