Baguio City, Philippines – Amidst circulating reports about the shortage of paracetamol supplies in the city, residents have been told not to panic and not to hoard as there could just be a delay in the delivery of supplies for the said medicine in Baguio.

City Health Services Office Medical Officer IV Dr. Donnabel Panes, during the UGNAYAN Panlungsod this January 5, assured the public that there will be no shortage in the production of paracetamol as this is an over-the-counter drug that is being manufactured by many companies.

“Meron tayong mga companies na nagpo-produce nito. ‘Wag pong mag-panic or maki-join sa mga nakikita sa national TV na mga bumibili ng paracetamol,” she appealed.

Panes further guaranteed that although there might be delays in the delivery of supply, the supply will come.

“We have enough of that, maybe sabi ko nga baka may delay lang sa delivery, but I don’t think there will be a shortage in the production,” she said.

Meantime, it could be recalled that on Tuesday, January 4, the Department of Health told the public that there is no ongoing shortage of paracetamol in the country after reports of alleged lack of supplies for the said medicine.

“The DOH would like to assure the public that while there is an observed increased demand for such products, there is no ongoing shortage in the Philippines,” the DOH stated.
