Omengan to file charges against persons liable for removing her in list of Tabuk mayoral candidates

Updated: Jan 9, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – City Mayoral candidate of Tabuk, Dr. Joyce Diasen-Omengan, has released her official statement clearing the issue and confirming her ‘fight for better change’, stating that the action taken against her 'joining the race is a threat to those who are benefitting from corruption and oppression of our people.’

The statement was posted on the official facebook page of Dra. Joyce Omengan yesterday night, December 13, 2021.

The release of the statement followed the December 10 update of Commission on Election – Kalinga not showing Omengan’s name from Tabuk City’s list of candidates despite her filing’s acceptance. The non-inclusion of Omengan's name raised assumptions whether Omengan withdrew her candidacy or COMELEC – Tabuk City slashed her out.

Omengan confirmed the commission issued a resolution excluding her name from the list of candidates in Tabuk City.

In her defense, Omengan said that her name’s removal is a 'gross negligence or intentional error of one person.’ This, she said, will not stop her endeavor.

Backed by the support given to her by ‘kakailyan,' she “decided to employ all remedies available to correct this injustice including appealing for reconsideration and filing of administrative cases against liable persons.”

COMELEC - Tabuk City refused to release any statement as yet since the Motion for Reconsideration is ongoing, and the aspirant’s removal ‘is not final.’

Omengan hopes to be able to achieve ‘favorable ruling this time.’
