P1.8M marijuana seized in Tabuk, Kalinga buy-bust


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Authorities arrested a drug suspect who was said to have harvested about P1.8 million worth of marijuana.


The arrest was made in Purok 3, Agbannawag, Tabuk City, Kalinga on Wednesday, September 28.

The suspect whose name was withheld by the police is a resident of Bugnay, Tinglayan.


According to the authorities, the operatives comprising of the local police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency caught the man carrying dried leaves and stalks of marijuana as well as in bricks and tubular form during a buy-bust operation conducted in said area.


The items confiscated were 8 bricks of dried marijuana leaves and stalks and 8 pieces in tubular form. All are with fruiting tops and are covered with transparent plastic.


Kalinga police said the total estimated weight is 15,000 grams with a Standard Drug Price of P1,800,000.

Aside from the illegal contraband, authorities confiscated from the suspect a 1,000-peso bill buy-bust money, 115 pieces 1,000-peso bill boodle money, and one-unit OPPO Reno 8 android phone.


All recovered pieces of evidence, alongside the suspect, were turned over to the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit office for proper documentation.


The arrested suspect may face charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
