P1M medical assistance to be allocated for KPH indigent patients

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A memorandum of agreement to allocate P1,000,000 fund as medical assistance to indigent patients in Kalinga has been approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan members led by Vice-Governor Dave Odiem.


During the recent regular session, the august body has given the authority to the Kalinga Provincial Local Government to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Kalinga Provincial Hospital and Department of Health – Center for Health Development in the region on how the fund will be utilized.


Vice Governor Odiem expressed support to the proposal as he acknowledged that this P1 million fund will be of great help to the indigent families and patients who will be hospitalized, especially with the economic crisis brought about by the pandemic restrictions.

As provided in the MOA, the Department of Health will give P1,000,000 to Kalinga Provincial Hospital as assistance to indigent families and economically unstable patients who cannot afford to settle their medical finances.


The P1,000,000 was allocated through SAA No. 2021-06-1817.


In said MOA, the Kalinga LGU is represented by Governor Ferdinand Tubban, KPH represented by Chief of Hospital Dr. Marlyn Duyan, and DOH – CHD – CAR is represented by Dr. Ruby Constantino.


Odiem, in an interview, said the provincial council immediately approved the MOA knowing that the hospital in the province need aid as they lack the funding.


"Nu adda kakastoy nga nasasayaat nga gandat, masapul nga agyaman tayo ken approbaran tapno magna nga dagos ti papeles ken maiyaramid ti purpose na. This is for the people of Kalinga and we do not want to delay it," said Vice-Governor Odiem.
