The modus of drug peddlers using transport or shipping vehicles is not new in Tabuk City.

According to the driver from Cauayan, Isabela, he accepts shipments booked online and drops them off at locations given by customers.

He said he was bound to Manila Saturday afternoon and came to Tabuk to fetch a supposed premium coffee which was to be dropped off in Bulacan. The premium coffee turned out to be marijuana.

He further claimed that a rider waited for them in Agbannawag. However, instead of giving the items, a person guided them towards New Balbalan in Lacnog.

The driver narrated that two people checked first the passengers of the van before loading the two boxes said to be containing premium coffee.

The driver said something was suspicious when the two who loaded the boxes were willing to pay him as much as P3,000 just to get the items delivered.

Following his instinct, the driver confided to the police in Talaca, telling them about the two boxes.

A drug-sniffing dog of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office named Stark confirmed the existence of a drug item in the boxes.

When the police opened them, they discovered 20 pieces of bricks, with an estimated worth of P2,400,000. The items were brought to KPPO.
