P43M evacuation center in Sabangan, Mt. Province inaugurated



Sabangan, Mt. Province - The provincial government of Mt. Province continue to intensify its disaster response with the recent inauguration of the Sabangan evacuation center.

This project, as cited by the Philippine Information Agency - Cordillera, is part of the province’s program to continue building safe spaces for the community to be used during calamities.


Over P43 million was allocated by the Office of Civil Defense-Cordillera for its construction which was built in a lot donated by Douglas Paticawen, a private citizen.


The building has a total area of 1,430 square meters and is situated at Sitio Ambango, Data, Sabangan.


It is equipped with lighting, electrical installations and generators, water supply, and sanitary facilities, under the Department of Public Works and Highways standard plan.

With the completion of said facility, Sabangan is now the fifth out of the ten municipalities in Mt. Province to have its own evacuation center.


The other municipalities are Bauko, Bontoc, Paracelis, and Tadian.


In his speech during the inauguration ceremony last week, Mayor Marcial Lawilao expressed gratitude to OCD-Cordillera for funding the project while urging his constituents to collaborate in maintaining the evacuation center.


Congressman Maximo Y. Dalog Jr. and Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan Jr., meantime, thanked the agency and other contributors for the completion of the building.
