Pasil begins provision of COVID-19 booster shots



Pasil, Kalinga – The local government unit of Pasil, Kalinga led by Mayor Alfredo “Chao-ig” Malannag Jr., started administering COVID-19 booster shots or additional dose to fully vaccinated individuals in the municipality.


Through its Municipal Health Office (MHO) headed by Dr. Aldrin Siwao, the LGU reported that a total of 63 eligible adults, who received their second dose six months ago, were given booster shots during the implementation of “Bayanihan Bakunahan” or the National COVID-19 Vaccination Days held on November 29 to December 1.


The health office, in a press release, revealed that of the 63 additional doses distributed, 53 availed Pfizer, 7 Moderna, and 3 Astrazeneca.


The move of the Department of Health (DOH) to give a go signal for booster shots prioritizing healthcare workers, senior citizens, and immunocompromised individuals comes with an aim to fully protect the people against the threat of COVID-19 variants of concern, especially the newly detected Omicron which according to the World Health Organization is “highly transmissible.”

Also inoculated during the National Vaccination Days are 221 first doses and 27 second doses. Vaccines provided were Pfizer, Moderna, and CoronaVac (Sinovac).


Pasil MHO, through their post, extended gratitude to everyone who lend their hand to the success of the activity, especially mentioning Mayor Malannag who “visited and inspired the health workers.”


Councilors Ronnie Bawalan, Speedy Lapaddic, Washington Bakidan, and Shirley Taclawan were also acknowledged by the team, along with other officials and health workers.


“To God be the Glory! Istay man chi!” exclaimed the Pasil MHO.
