Brothers shot cousins in Baggao, Cagayan

Baggao, Cagayan – A 31-year-old and 21-year-old siblings were rushed to the hospital after they were shot by their cousins over an alleged personal dispute on June 20 in Sitio Mosimoc, Barangay Bitag Pequeno.


Authorities from the Police Regional Office 2 Regional Public Information Office identified the victims as Benedicto Martinez, 31, and Bernardo Martinez, Jr., 21.


According to police initial investigation, the two victims were having coffee at their house at around 5 o’clock in the afternoon when their cousins identified as Gringo Marcos, 30, and Joan Marcos, 39, arrived on their motorcycle with a gun.

After getting off their motorcycle, one of the suspects immediately fired at the victims using a 12 gauge shotgun.


Benedicto was hit on his hand and feet while Bernardo was shot on his knee. The two were rushed to Baggao District Hospital. They are now in stable condition.


The police immediately conducted a hot pursuit operation that led to the arrest of the suspects in Barangay Nanguilatan, Peñablanca.


The gun they used in the commission of the crime was also seized near their house.


Gringo and Joan will be facing frustrated murder charges.
