yKalinga wheelchair racer clinches Philippines' FIRST silver medal in 2023 Asian Para Games

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The first silver medal for the Philippines in the ongoing 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China was won by yKalinga wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan.


Mangliwan secured said medal in the Men's 100m - T52 in para athletics this Tuesday, Oct. 24, the Philippine Sports Commission announced.

The wheelchair racer had a record time of 18.65, breaking his personal ‘best’.


“Mabuhay ka, Jerrold! Maraming salamat sa pagpapatunay na #BidaAngBayaningManlalaro!” the Philippine Sports Commission wrote on Facebook.


The yKalinga para athlete who is currently leading the 9-man Philippine Para Athletics team in the competition will be competing again on Oct. 27 for the Mens 400m T52.


The country, meantime, collected its first gold medal through Ernie Gawilan in the men’s 400m freestyle-S7 today.
