Police recover guns from self-inflicted road crash victim in Cagayan

Camalaniugan, Cagayan – After having been involved in a self-inflicted incident that claimed his life, two guns were recovered from a 26-year-old driver in Camalaniugan, Cagayan on Thursday, November 24.


The victim identified as 'Alyas David' was a resident of Bulala, Camalaniugan.


Police report said the accident transpired between 10 p.m. to 12 a.m.

The victim who was on board his motorcycle was said to be traversing the National Highway in Barangay Julian Olivas Camalaniugan when the incident happened.


Accordingly, David’s motorcycle crashed into an electric post along the highway.


A police officer was the first one to catch sight of the victim.


Camalaniugan police said Police Chief Master Sgt. Henry Binoya from the Provincial Intelligence Unit of Cagayan Police Office handed them the firearms he recovered from the victim.


Guns recovered include a caliber 9mm Ingram and an STI EDGE caliber 45 with a magazine that contains 5 bullets. The caliber 45 gun was retrieved from the victim’s sling bag.

Police are now working to know more details of the victim's identity and the owners of the two weapons recovered from him.


Meantime, another self-inflicted accident happened on Cataggaman Boulevard in Cataggaman Nuevo, Tuguegarao City on the same date.


The victim, Prince Aaron, 23, from Gattaran hit a concrete barrier along the highway while driving his scooter, causing the accident. He is now confined to the Cagayan Valley Medical Center.
