Punong Barangay Sagayo seeks re-election to spur more development in Magsaysay

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Punong Barangay Enrique Sagayo is gunning for another three-year term to continue serving his constituents and pursue the projects and programs that started under his administration.

Since Sagayo assumed office in 2018, Magsaysay has been recording notable infrastructure development such as the P15 million Ubbog to Chico River Farm-to-Market Road, the P10 million road improvement from Baduyen Street to Sitio San Vicente and Sitio San Felipe boundary to Baduyen Street, among others.

Part of his manifesto is to see the P18 million worth improvement of a road spanning 1.4 kilometers from San Felipe to San Vicente come to fruition. The proposed FMR, he said, was already approved by the Department of Agriculture – Cordillera, and with the completion of the requirement, its funding is expected to be released this year.

The P2.9 million worth of Senior Citizen Building for the elders residing within the east portion of the barangay was completed and Sagayo vows to seek funding for another building that will accommodate the same sector in the west side.

To address the educational demand of increasing pupils in Magsaysay Elementary School, the village chief has been working to put up at least three additional rooms. He is hoping that the Governor approve his request to provide additional funds for the building construction.

“Kailangan nga gumatang ti lote ket adda ti nagatang nga manayunan by next year. Hopefully, pondoan ni Gov. diay dawat ko nga P4 million kanyana tapnu mainayun idiay pondo ti barangay ta adda met ti in-allocate mi for next year… Urayen da pay nga makompleto diay kalawa ti lote santu da pondoan diay dawat tayo nga 3 rooms ti school,” he conveyed.

Likewise, he is pushing for the development of the lake in Ubbog which could be the source of water and supply the entire sitio if funded and completed.

As a mechanism for crime, violence, and drug prevention, especially among youth, the barangay chairperson sought the erection of a sports complex which is now under construction. The facility will offer another avenue away from violence and drugs and will increase opportunities while improving the wellbeing of the youngsters.

With his leadership, the peace and order of the village improved. In October last year, Sagayo was conferred an accolade by the Department of Interior and Local Government – Cordillera for being among the six barangays with Ideal Functional Barangay Development Council (BDC) for the year 2021. This means, the performance of barangay officials was effective and the incumbent chairperson desires to maintain such.

Also, he wishes to sustain the barangay’s “cleanest and greenest” status by waste segregation and regular clean-up drive, while raising public awareness on environmental care and protection.

Sagayo administration’s dedication and efforts beget awards not just within the locality but also at the regional level, and it is the aspiration of the incumbent village chief that his constituents will support him for his re-election bid for further development.

“Dagitoy kuma nga inbinsa-binsak nga focus ko manen nga kayat ko nga maaramid iti maikadwa nga panag-akem, nu ikkan nak ti gundaway, ket maaramid kuma, tapnu maitultuloy tayo dagitoy programa ken proyekto nga nairugi tayo para iti panagdur-as, panagrang-ay ken pagsya-atan dagiti amin nga kabarangayan tayo nga Magsaysay,” he expressed.

“Nu anya ti nakita da kanyak idi nga kinagaget, kinapinget ken kinapudno nga agserbi, mas manayunan pay dayta,” he added.
