Retired army in Isabela arrested after molesting 14-year-old student

Echague, Isabela – A retired army in Barangay Gucab, Echague, Isabela was arrested after allegedly molesting a 14-year-old student, says Echague Police Station on November 11, 2022.

Chief of said police station, PMaj. Rogelio Natividad, through 92.9 Brigada News FM Cauayan, said the suspect is a 76-year-old retired army, married, and a resident of said barangay.

The victim was said to be a 14-year-old Grade 9 student, and a resident of Barangay Silauan Norte of Echague.

Natividad disclosed that they received a call from the Barangay Captain of Gucab saying they had caught the suspect in the act.

The barangay captain narrated through a phone call that one of the barangay officials was strolling around their village when he heard a girl cry behind a mango tree, near a cornfield. This led to the discovery of the elderly, molesting the girl.

Authorities immediately responded and arrested the suspect while the victim was escorted to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office and was later brought to the Municipal Health Office for medical-legal examination.

In the police investigation, the victim revealed that she was on her way to Barangay Gucab when she encountered the senior citizen riding a bike.

The 14-year-old claimed the suspect followed her and forcedly took her into the cornfield where he molested her.

The senior citizen now faces the case of Alleged Rape and Sexual Assault in relation to RA 11648, An Act Providing for Stronger Protection Against Rape and Sexual Exploitation and Abuse, Increasing the Age for Determining the Commission of Statutory Rape.

With the incident, personnel of Echague Police Station reminded the public, particularly parents, to guard their children to prevent such untoward incidents.
