Rizal, Kalinga aiming for a 100% drug-free municipality

Rizal, Kalinga – The Municipality of Rizal is aiming to be a 100% drug-free town this 2022 as it places confidence on the yet-to-be-released results of the drug clearing and validation in the municipality conducted recently.

In order to pursue the said aim, members of the Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) chaired by Mayor Karl Baac convened on April 29 to discuss the guidelines for adjudication and delisting of drug personalities.

Municipal Administrator Ellen Domondon explained that Barangay Liwan West is the only area in Rizal that has yet to be cleared from drugs. She added that the documents needed for clearing the barangay are now being prepared.

Likewise, since drug clearing is being done yearly, all the remaining barangays in Rizal which were previously declared drug cleared have to submit documents and reapply.

Domondon mentioned that all the requirements should be accomplished after the election period.

In a separate interview with Police Captain Ruff Manganip, Rizal Chief of Police, he explained that the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency national office has already cleared the narco-politician identified in Liwan West.

He disclosed that this person is now actually helping with the campaign against illegal drugs.

“Once a na-drug clear tayo daytoy Liwan West meaning all of Rizal ket drug cleared-en, then they can declare it already as a drug-free municipality,” Manganip said.

Meantime, Manganip disclosed that there is no marijuana plantation in Rizal and that communities are not letting drug personalities bring in contrabands and cultivate illegal weeds in their areas of responsibility.
