Santa Marcela launches Agro Industrial-Fair, showcases farmer's innovation and sustainability

Santa Marcela, Apayao- Agricultural and local products from the thirteen (13) barangays of Santa Marcela town are displayed for sale at the agro-trade fair booths, LGU compound this Saturday to Monday June 15-17,2024.


The exhibit is a part of the grand opening of the municipality's three-day festivity, the 57th Founding Anniversary and 20th Balangkoy Festival.


The opening began with a ceremonial cutting of ribbon led by DTI -Apayao Provincial Director Eng. Wena M. Buston, together with Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez and LGU officials, signifying the official start of the trade fair.

Variety of local raw and processed products, including native delicacies, root crops, and ornamental plants from the exhibitors' respective barangays were featured, readily available to be purchased by the constituents.


Mayor Martinez underlined the necessity of supporting agro-industrial fairs, saying what they launched does not only highlight the local produce of the farmers and exhibitors, but also helps them expand their markets. She added that buying the local produce aid them in their product innovation which is crucial to ensuring the continuous development of their industry.


Similarly, Engr. Wena Buston mentioned the agro-trade is a marketing strategy, an opportunity for producers to promote their products which is centered on local sustained prosperity.


In her talk, she mentioned that the municipality's sustainable development is driven by agriculture, with almost 90% of the agricultural lands is devoted to it, enabling local farmers and entrepreneurs to generate promising sources of income.
