‘SEARCH CONTINUES: Only one of 2 missing brothers found dead in Tineg, Abra’- MDRRMC clarifies

TINEG, Abra — Authorities clarified that only one of two brothers who had been missing for nearly three days was found dead, while the search for his younger brother continues in the mountainous area of Caganayan, Tineg, Abra.


The Tineg Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) issued the clarification on Friday night, September 4, following earlier reports that both brothers had been found dead.


The brothers, Octavious and Markcliff, residents of Caganayan, were reported missing by a family member on September 3 after they failed to return home for nearly three days.


According to the Tineg MDRRMC, local responders and volunteers found 9-year-old Octavious at around 11 a.m. on September 4 at Mount Mabitog Asilip in Caganayan.


However, the council clarified that Markcliff remains missing, with authorities and community volunteers continuing search, retrieval and rescue operations to locate him.


“Madama latta iti panakaiwayat iti search, retrieval and rescue operations para iti panakabirok iti maysa pay nga ubing a ni Markcliff. Igunam gunam tayo iti sangkamaysa a panagkararag,” the MDRRMC said in a Facebook post.


The clarification came after a family member initially reported on September 4 that both missing brothers had been found dead in the mountains.


Authorities and community members continue to search for Markcliff, while the MDRRMC appealed for collective prayers and continued support as the search operation continues.
