Security guard in Benguet accidentally kills pregnant partner

Benguet, Philippines – A 20-year-old security guard was charged with Homicide on October 13, 2022, after he accidentally shot his live-in partner at Sitio Omico, Ampucao, Itogon.

The suspect who was identified as Matt Angelo Alabag from La Union was working as a security guard at a mining company in Benguet and is living with his 16-year-old pregnant partner.

Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation – MPBC reported that the incident transpired when the suspect was cleaning his service firearm, which was described to be Caliber 9mm Armscor.

It was said that while doing the task, he accidentally pulled the trigger and shot his live-in partner.

The victim was rushed to the Sto. Niño Hospital at Philex Mines but was declared dead on arrival. The body of the victim was brought home to Baler, Aurora on October 12.

The suspect, on the other hand, was brought to the custody of the Itogon Municipal Police Station prior to his transfer to the Benguet District Jail. His bail was recommended at 200,000 for his temporary freedom.
