Security guard in Claveria, Cagayan swept by raging water and drowned

Claveria, Cagayan – The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office-Claveria confirmed the drowning of a security guard while conducting an inspection early morning this October 10, 2021, at the Port of the municipality.


The security officer was identified as a certain Pedro Sanjilan, 27, a resident of Barangay Centro 3, Claveria.


According to the MDRRMO, the victim was doing an inspection when he lost control and fell into the raging water, which carried him away.

The security guard's body was retrieved by the municipality’s Rescue Team, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), and Maritime Team at 8:20 AM and was rushed to Rural Health Center, but was declared dead on arrival.


The provincial government of Cagayan advised the community to take extra precautions as the province is under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 with ‘damaging gale-force to storm-force winds prevailing or expected within 24 hours.’
