See what love can do: Lovers who faked kidnapping to be together may face charges

Baguio City, Philippines – The Police Regional Office Cordillera is considering filing of charges against a couple who staged a kidnapping incident to mislead the victim’s parents who do not agree with her relationship with the suspect.

The supposed kidnapping incident was caught on tape and went viral causing alarm to families of individuals involved.

In the video, the kidnapping victim along with her two friends was walking along the street in Barangay Dizon Subdivision in May 6 when a black van stopped and pulled her inside before it sped off, leaving her friends behind.

The incident was immediately reported and the Baguio City Police Office’s investigation pointed to the victim’s ‘ex-boyfriend’ as the person of interest.

In the official statement of the PNP Cordillera, they wrote that the police discovered after thorough investigation that the incident was a “Kidnap Me” case which was only staged by the victim and the suspect.

Why the lovers did the “kidnap me” plan?

The fake kidnapping incident was done in order to deceive the victim’s parents who are against her romantic involvement with the suspect who was recently released from jail, the PNP Cordillera added.

With the incident, the police are now thinking about filing appropriate charges against the people involved for causing anxiety as well as for wasting the limited resources of the PNP.

“They acted without due consideration to the welfare and peace of mind of the general public and as such, this office is contemplating filing charges against the couple for causing undue alarm and agitation in the community. And as police resources are scarce and limited and with many cases to investigate, the PNP considers making false reports and faking crimes to be a serious waste of its resources and will act accordingly,” they wrote.
