Senate approves Mangaoang's proposal for a CHED Field Office in Kalinga

Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Senate approved on January 31, 2022 the measure filed by Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang seeking for the establishment of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Field Office in Kalinga Province.

With this development, stakeholders,, especially students in the province would soon have easy access to their educational concerns, such as processing applications for scholarship grants and securing documents for employment purposes and other transactions.

Importance of CHED Field Office in Kalinga

Mangaoang explained the vital role of youth in nation building, thus appropriate actions should be undertaken for them to have better access to education.

It is a sad reality, the solon related, that many poor students have to drop out of college due to lack of access to government agencies and programs tasked to prioritize education as the catalyst for change and progress.

Due to the travel time that takes around eight to 12 hours, clients from the academe struggle to bring their concerns to CHED Regional Office, since this is situated in La Trinidad, Benguet.

The amount of money they spend to reach and transact with the regional office is also considered an additional burden for the students, staff, and administrators of higher learning institutions.

Mangaoang then highlighted the need to bring educational services to the people of Kalinga.

Bill sent to the Office of the President

The bill shall be transmitted to the Office of the President for further approval or veto. Once approved, the CHED shall issue the necessary rules and regulations for the implementation of the act. Funds to carry out the provision shall be included in the General Appropriations Act.

Said CHED-Kalinga Field Office is set to be established in the City of Tabuk.
