Tabuk police reveals identity of robbers in Malalao shootout

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Tabuk City police revealed that the 5 suspected members of a robbery hold-up gang killed during the armed with the government forces on April 28 in Barangay Malalao are from Mexico, Pampanga.


According to the police the identification cards of the two slain suspects, Ian Salutin Zulueta and Jose S. Libreja, revealed they are from Mexico, Pampanga. The identification of the other three is withheld pending further verification.


The investigator on the case already coordinated with the contacts written on the identification cards of the 5 slain individuals.

Tabuk City Police said they will wait for the families of the suspects to appear at their office.


As recalled, the armed encounter ensued when the vehicle ferrying the 5 men allegedly tried to run over some of the police officers at an anti-criminality checkpoint in Bulo and fired their gun at them. The law enforcers later pursued the speeding vehicle until Purok 5, Malalao where the exchange of fire happened.

Two of the suspects were dead on the spot while the other three were rushed to the hospital in Agbannawag but were declared dead.


All of them were brought to TAMPCO Funeral for post-mortem and embalming.

While no one was shot on the part of the police, a police patrol car that served as a blocking force was hit by a bullet. Moreover, 4 pieces of Caliber .45; fired cartridges and live ammunitions; and P2,760,000 worth of suspected marijuana bricks were recovered from the crime scene.
