Tanudan, Kalinga – Seven years since the start of its construction, Tanudan Municipal Hall shall finally be completed with the P14,901,365.09 allocated funding from the approved P50 million Tanudan Development Project loan.

The completion shall lead the way for better services to the people of Tanudan.

Notice to Proceed for the completion of the building was issued last December 3, 2021.

Tanudan Municipal Engineer Mike Tongnawa mentioned that out of the five projects funded through the P50 million loan, P20 million was initially set aside for the completion of the municipal building.

However, from the 20 million budget, he said they were able to save P5,098,634.91 million, which will be programmed to continue and connect the access road in Banagao.

The current improvement being done to Banagao access road aims to link the area to the national road.

P18 million funding allocated before loan

According to Tongnawa, the construction of the Municipal Hall started in 2015 during the previous administration, with P12 million funding from the annual 20% municipal fund.

The P12 million covered the foundation of the building, which included excavation, building of posts, and beam among others.

Under the administration of Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag starting in 2019, a total of P6 million was allocated for the roofing, installation of hollow blocks, remakes, and others.

However, the municipal engineer explained that the Tanudan Municipal Hall will not be finished until 2030 if they will just rely on the 20% municipal fund.

“Haan tayo a malpas daytoy a building up to 2030 nu pitchi pitchi en tayo a punpundoan iti 20%. Isunga in-recommend mi nga ag-loan tayo laengen tapnu malpas in one time ta marunot tu dagiay steel bar sa tayo malpas,” he said.

Item of works covered by the P14.9 million

Among the things covered by the P14.9 million budget from the approved loan are the flooring, plastering, ceiling, plumbing, flagpole, restrooms, and others.

Tongnawa mentioned that the septic tank was already done and that the electrical portions have already been laid out.

With the construction and completion of the Tanudan Dumanay Bridge in 2021, he said they saved a bit and used the money saved for added materials.

“Nalaklaka iti transshipment uray nangina latta ta adayu pagalaan ken pasang-at, pasalog iti dalan kumpara iti manual hauling. Iti manual hauling gamin, siyempre iti tao iti mangibaga iti presyo da. Haan mo mabalin nga i-insist iti presyo … urayem nga isuda mangibaga… isuda gamin iti agrikna nu kaya da nga isang-at wennu haan da kaya,” Tongnawa explained.

The building’s progress is reportedly at 26%.
