Tanudan Pangol footbridge rehabilitated for public safety

Updated: Dec 3, 2021

Tanudan, Kalinga — A worn-out footbridge in Liyang, Pangol was recently rehabilitated to make sure that people, specifically the students crossing, are safe and will not fall into the river when stepping on rotten timber.

Executive Assistant to Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, John Ryan Awingan, mentioned that the bridge was already too old, posing danger to the public.

Through the P300,000 funding from the 20% Development Fund of the Municipal Local Government Unit of Tanudan, the Liyang footbridge was recently repaired.

In a statement, Mayor Dagadag expressed that the constituents in Liyang, as well as the students, will no longer have to experience crossing an old and unsafe bridge now that it has been rehabilitated.

“Daytoy rehabilitation na daytoy a rangtay ket tapnu safe latta dagiti kakailyan karkaru dagitoy estudyante tayo nu ag-cross da mapan ag-eskwela, awan iti matinnag wennu maiyabot,” he said.

He assured that even though Tanudan does not have a big Internal Revenue Allotment, the LGU will still try to bring improvement to the municipality even with the limited funding.

“Sagbabassiten ken hinay hinay lang ti ikasta tayo a mang-improve iti ili tayo a Tanudan. Iyan-anay tayo ti bassit a pondo tayo ta anya ngay ket 4th class municipality tayo pay lang,” he said.

Meantime, it could be recalled that a 3-kilometer road in Liyang, Pangol was recently opened, making it easier for people to travel and bring out their products. Also, the constituents will no longer have to endure a 40-minute hike just to reach the paved road in going to other places in Tanudan and in going to Tabuk.
