TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The Sangguniang Bayan (SB) of Tanudan is set to discuss the proposed regulation of tourist transportation fares following its endorsement by the Municipal Development Council (MDC).

The MDC, chaired by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, approved and endorsed the proposal during its second-semester meeting on October 1, 2026. The measure originated from the Municipal Tourism Development Council (MTDC) and seeks to establish an official fare matrix for tourist transportation in the municipality.

MDC Resolution No. 28, Series of 2026, presented by Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator (MPDC) Wildred Andowag, adopted and endorsed the proposed measure to the SB for appropriate legislative action.

The resolution noted that tourism is an important component of local development and that transportation is essential to tourism, as the accessibility, affordability, reliability and safety of transport services affect the ability of tourists and visitors to reach destinations in Tanudan.

The MDC expressed support for developing a local policy and regulatory framework for tourist transportation fares. It recommended the preparation of a Municipal Tourist Transportation Fare Study as the technical basis for the proposed regulation.

The MDC also recommended consultations with affected stakeholders, including transport operators and drivers, transport associations, barangays, tourism establishments, tour operators and guides, and Indigenous Peoples, among others.

Following the approval of the resolution, the MDC endorsed it to the SB for legislative consideration, including referral to the appropriate committee, review of applicable laws and regulations, public and stakeholder consultations, coordination with concerned national government agencies when necessary, and review of the proposed technical fare study.

The SB may then consider the enactment of an appropriate municipal ordinance regulating tourist transportation fares or other appropriate legislative measures.

A copy of MDC Resolution No. 28, Series of 2026, will be submitted to the Office of the Sangguniang Bayan.
