Tanudan, Kalinga – The Municipality of Tanudan continues to make strides not only in infrastructure and economic development but also in maintaining peace and security as it officially attained its State of Stable Internal Peace and Security (SSIPS) status on May 25, 2026.

Conferred by the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the SSIPS status signifies that a municipality has successfully eliminated local insurgency influence, paving the way for sustained development and community empowerment.

In a ceremony led by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag, represented by Municipal Administrator Atty. Novilyn Matnao-Baclili, and Vice Mayor Atty. Antonio Basungit Jr., Tanudan unveiled its SSIPS marker, formally recognizing the town’s success in its anti-insurgency efforts.

According to Baclili, one of Tanudan’s key initiatives against insurgency was the declaration of the New People’s Army (NPA) as persona non grata, signifying that communist terrorist groups are not welcome in the municipality. She noted that Tanudan was the first municipality in Kalinga to adopt such a measure.

Baclili further reported that, as of March 2026, no sightings of NPA members had been recorded in the municipality. Likewise, there have been no reported atrocities against vital installations and public facilities, nor any incidents of extortion involving residents or prominent personalities.

“This milestone means that Tanudan continues to progress not only in infrastructure but also in other sectors, particularly peace and order. This is the result of the peace and security initiatives implemented by the municipality,” Baclili said.

The unveiling of the SSIPS marker marks a significant milestone in Tanudan’s efforts to foster a safe and secure environment, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to sustainable development and community well-being.
