TESDA-CAR snatches four gold medals in Philippine National Skills Competition

Baguio City, Philippines – The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority-Cordillera (TESDA-CAR) snatched four gold medals in the recently concluded Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC) held from December 13 to 16.


Jason Boguiles won the gold medal in Prototype Modeling and Ace Kevin Lloyd Fontanilla secured the same medal in Plastering and Drywall Systems.


Mike Anthony Culat also bagged gold medal in Car Painting and Archie Buyotan bagged the same in Joinery, beating three contestants nationwide.

The Cordillerans also bagged two silver medals and two bronze medals.


As the only woman among the men competitors in Wall and Floor Tiling, Janissa Langbayan placed second bagging the Silver Medal. Jaime Cayamdas also won the same in Cabinet Making.


Meanwhile, Kris Dhan Atas took the bronze medal in the Restaurant Services Skills competition while Mark Paul Cabantac took the same in the Electronics skill area.

During the awarding, Deputy Director General Lina Sarmiento, Chairperson for the National Organizing Committee (NOC) for Local Skills Competition, expressed her appreciation to all the participants.


“This competition should be a learning experience for all of our competitors, and they will walk away with improved key employability skills, such as effective teamwork and communication, and time management,” she said.


TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapeña likewise expressed the same saying that the competition has provided the Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) graduates a chance to showcase their skills.

For the winners, he said, the competition will give them a chance to meet world-class standards in skills competition as they set to compete at a world level next year.

The Cordilleran gold medalists will represent the country in the upcoming 46th World Skills Competition in Shanghai, China.


Overall, TESDA-CAR placed third rank in this year’s Philippine National Skills Competition.
