Updated: Jul 12, 2022

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Provincial Director of Technical Education and Skill Development Authority - Kalinga, Engr. Victor P. Brioso urged the 156 Special Training for Employment Program Scholars in Tabuk to complete their training and start their business to augment their income.

It is expected that the 156 had been equipped with enough knowledge and skills in business start-ups to put up their own enterprise.

STEP is promulgated by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which aims to promote employment, particularly through entrepreneurial, self-employment, and service-oriented activities, and offers training programs that address the necessary skills needed of the communities.

Brioso explained the importance of the program in his remark during the General Orientation of STEP Scholarship on July 8, 2022, saying the complete training package ready participants for entrepreneurship, running and managing a business as well as doing bookkeeping.

Additionally, the scholars are provided a training allowance and a starter livelihood toolkit they shall use after they finished the training.

Brioso said the key to their success is a regular practice of the necessary skills and knowledge they acquired during the training.

“Nu usaren yu laeng dagitoy skills training nga it ited ti training provider ditoy skwelaan, ket inaldaw nga isu ti ar-aramiden yu, you will become expert and you have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills, daytan ti usaren yu iti pagbiag yu ken rest assured nga nu expert kayo ditan, people will come to you,” he said.

The toolkits already arrived and are expected to be distributed to the STEP scholars for those who graduated in previous training. Brioso assured the new scholars that they, too, will receive their toolkits upon graduation.

Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang funded the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) Scholarship with P2,532,555.80.
