Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Local Government of Tinglayan headed by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab has announced the availability of 500 doses of Pfizer vaccines in the municipality for the 12-17 years age bracket. Inoculation is set for tomorrow, November 24, 2021, at the Municipal gym.

For said activity, the Municipal Health Office of Tinglayan targets to vaccinate at least 500 to 1000 people as other vaccine brands including Astrazeneca and Sinovac are also available for adults.

In an interview with Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao, she disclosed that there is a need to administer the Pfizer vaccine brand in one day due to the lack of proper storage for the said vaccine in Tinglayan.

Pfizer vaccines need to be stored in an Ultra-Low Temperature freezer to ensure the maintenance of its potency since it requires a negative temperature.

Because of this, she reminded the public that the Pfizer vaccine will not be made available for the barangay vaccination, thus she called on all parents to bring their 12 to 17 years old children to the municipal gym for the jab.

“Ti imbaga pay doktora idi last time ti vaccination ti Pfizer ket upon arrival at the site diretso a vaccination na kase nga maselan diay storage conditions na,” she narrated.

With the said vaccination activity, LGU Tinglayan through MHO is urging yTinglayan pedia populace to attend tomorrow’s inoculation to protect them from the Covid-19 virus. This is also for the municipality to attain their goal of herd immunity, which requires 70 percent of the population of a place to receive the vaccine.

To get the jab, pedia or minors are required to bring with them a duly signed parent’s consent form which they can get from their barangay midwife and a birth certificate (optional) with the presence of his/her guardian during his/her inoculation.

As of this writing, Tinglayan, based on Provincial Health’s Office’s data, has now reached a 21 percent vaccination rate.
