Tinglayan LGU, PHO launch 2nd vax roll-out to achieve herd immunity

Updated: Jan 9, 2022

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Kalinga Provincial Health Office along with the local government of Tinglayan and other national line agencies launched the second round of the national vaccination drive through a motorcade on Monday, December 13, 2021, aiming to raise numbers of jabs to reach herd immunity.

Tinglayan is one of the municipalities which experienced a low turnout of vaccinations due to public hesitancy.

As per PHO data, Tinglayan has the least number of vaccinated individuals, having fully inoculated only 23 percent of its target, pushing PHO to prioritize the municipality for the vaccination.

“Napan dagiti kameng ti provincial government, da Dr. Tandingan a tumulong tatta idiay Tinglayan ta isu ti ayan ti kababaan ti percentage ti nabakunaan. Request met lang ni apo mayor Sacrament ta nagrigat, ti kanayun nga ibaga da ket ti tao ti makin madi ngem adu gayam factors na,” Governor Ferdinand Tubban informed during the official opening of the Chamber of Kalinga Producers Inc. (CKAPI) Christmas Bonanza Fair.

He added that one factor that PHO observed is the problem in transportation, prompting the PHO to visit the municipality. The vaccination is scheduled for five days.

Brand of vaccines available, according to Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao, are Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and Sinovac. Ytinglayans can also get their first dose, second dose, and booster shot inoculation.

“All adults (18 and above) and pediatric population (12 - 17 yrs. old) are invited to attend the mass vaccination,” she said.

With the national vaccination dubbed as “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” formulated by the National Task Force Against COVID-19 to speed up the rollout of doses for 15 million Filipinos across 16 regions outside Metro Manila, it is hoped that Kalinga shall benefit from it.

Among those who graced the event include Department of Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Max Mayer Adong, DOH Representative DMO IV Remegio Basilan, KPH Chief of hospital PHO I Dr. Marilyn Duyan and Dr. Dana Batalao of Mejia Kim Hospital.

Participating agencies include the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Department of Interior and Local Government, PHO, and offices from the local government of Tinglayan.
