Tuguegarao honest trike drivers commended for good acts

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – Dubbed as the ‘city of capacity’ by public commuters, a new image of tricycle drivers now starts to emerge in Tuguegarao City.

This comes after the local government on Thursday, August 24, honored 46 tricycle drivers in the area for their good acts.

These people each had their own tales of what happened when they returned the items that their passengers had left behind, and some of them were commended for doing the same with items that they had picked up along the trip.

They were given certificates of recognition and financial incentives at the award ceremony.

The event was attended by Committee Chairman on Transportation, City Councilor Arnel Arugay, City Councilor Ronaldo Ortiz, City Councilor Mark Angelo Dayag, City Councilor Tirso Mangada and representatives of the Federation of Tricycle Driver's Association (FETODA).

In a press release, the Tuguegarao City Information Office said the recognition of said drivers is an initiative of the city government, to show that not all tricycle drivers in the city are exploitative and abusive towards their passengers.

To recall, commuters frequently post on social media about their negative experiences with tricycle drivers in the city due to other drivers involved in charging exorbitant fares like double pay, special pay, 'capacity', or boundary fares.

Other commuters likewise complain about their refusal to get passengers, which happens when tricycle drivers do not bite the fare they offer to passengers.
