For many, landing among the top examinees in a national licensure examination is the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice. For Oryl Anga-angan Ganotisi, however, the achievement means something far more personal.

Behind the recognition, the applause, and the accolades is a son hoping that his success can help ease the burden of a mother battling cancer.

Ganotisi, a proud son of Kalinga, was recently recognized by the Provincial Government of Kalinga after emerging as one of the top 10 performers in the March 2025 Medical Technologists Licensure Examination. During an awarding ceremony on June 8, 2026, he received a ₱50,000 cash incentive through the Office of the Provincial Human Resource Management Officer (PHRMO) in recognition of his outstanding achievement.

For many young professionals, such recognition would be a reward for personal accomplishment. For Ganotisi, it immediately became something else—a source of hope for his family.

A resident of Barangay Bulanao, Tabuk City, Ganotisi said the incentive would help support his mother, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer.

“Actually, dayta nga kwarta nga naited kanyak ket mabalin nga mausar ni mamak piman nga tatta nga agpapalaing, agpapalaing piman iti cancer na ket at least nga adda lang nga mangtulong,” Ganotisi shared. (The money given to me can be used by my mother, who is currently battling cancer. At least, it can provide some help.)

His words reflected the values that have guided him throughout his journey—humility, gratitude, and an unwavering commitment to family.

While his name now appears among the country's top-performing medical technologists, Ganotisi remains grounded in the realities that many families face. His achievement is not simply a personal milestone but a reminder that success often carries responsibilities beyond oneself.

His journey to the top was built on years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance. Like countless aspiring healthcare professionals, he spent long hours studying, preparing for examinations, and pursuing a profession dedicated to serving others.

Today, that hard work has earned him recognition not only from the province but also from fellow Kalingans who see in his story a source of inspiration.

Yet what makes Ganotisi's achievement stand out is not merely his academic excellence. It is the purpose behind it.

The ₱50,000 incentive may symbolize recognition for his performance in one of the country's most challenging licensure examinations, but for him, its true value lies in the help it can provide to a loved one fighting a difficult battle.

His story serves as a powerful reminder that success becomes even more meaningful when it is shared with others—especially with the people who have supported and sacrificed for us along the way.

From the classrooms that shaped his dreams to the healthcare profession he now proudly joins, Ganotisi's journey reflects more than academic achievement. It is a story of perseverance, gratitude, and a son's desire to give back.

For Kalinga, his accomplishment stands as a testament not only to excellence but also to the enduring power of family, compassion, and hope.
