Updated: Jun 6, 2022

Ifugao, Philippines – The Asipulo Youth Leader Organization in Ifugao is calling for donations for families displaced by a series of armed encounters between the army and members of the New People’s Army in Barangay Namal in Asipulo.

Since May 23, 2022, a series of gunfights have ensued between the government forces and rebels. This resulted in the death of one rebel and the injury of their high-ranking official who was rushed by the army to the hospital.

According to Orlando Kiwaon, a member of the Asipulo Youth Leader Organization, 85 families from Barangay Namal evacuated on May 24, and 37 families from Barangay Pula left their houses on May 30.

The residents from Namal are temporarily staying at a school while the ones from Pula have temporarily moved to Sitio Ungol, Pula for their safety.

To help the affected families, the Asipulo Youth Leader Organization initiated a fundraising and a call for donations. Kiwaon said that the families need food and hygiene kits while they are yet to return to their houses.

To those who wish to send goods, they can send them through Orlando Kiwaon for pickup at the Lagawe, Ifugao Terminal.

For financial assistance, it could also be sent to Kiwaon’s GCash, 09362866024.
