Bangued, Abra – Two suspects in the killing of a transgender high school teacher in Bangued, Abra were arrested by the police following the hot pursuit operation conducted last night, September 28.

The suspects' identities were not yet revealed by authorities, as the probe in the case is still ongoing.

Rudy Steward Sayen, also called ‘Estee’ by her friends, was heading to work early morning of Wednesday when he was shot twice by a riding-in-tandem.

He was said to have been tailed by the suspects and when they were nearing the curve going to Barangay Sta. Rosa, one of the suspects hit his motorcycle, while the other suspect shot him in the back and behind the ears.

Sayen was ferried to the hospital by the members of Abra Provincial Mobile Force Company, but while being treated, she died.

LGBTQIA Abra, meantime, released a statement condemning the killing of ‘Estee’ and demanded a swift investigation of the case.

“We demand swift investigation and justice for this killing of one of our members. Once again, it puts to light the prejudice, hatred, and impunity that LGBTIQA+ face in their daily existence and struggles,” the group said.
