2 former rebels in Kalinga receive 0ver P100k ECLIP assistance

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Two former members of the New People’s Army and Militia ng Bayan are now ready to settle for good and live a normal life after getting package of assistance amounting to P104,000 on Friday, June 3, 2022.

The assistance is made possible through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) of the national government.

E-CLIP is a government program designed to help former CPP-NPA-NDF and Militia ng Bayan members restore their allegiance to the Philippine government through the provision of holistic package of benefits such as livelihood, medical assistance, education, housing, and legal assistance.

In a press release, the Provincial Information Office of Kalinga reports that beneficiaries include a 59-year-old man from Dugpa, Pinukpuk hidden by the name of Bagyan/Ligtas, and a 55-year-old woman from Basao, Dilag, Tabuk City named as ‘Lucia.’

Bagyan received P65,000 check assistance –P50,000 to support his hog-raising livelihood and P15,000 as immediate assistance.

Lucia, meantime, received from the program P39,000 of which P24,000 was given as remuneration for a home-made caliber 38 firearm she surrendered and P15,000 as immediate assistance.

Said assistance was personally handed by Governor Ferdinand B. Tubban along with other members of the ECLIP.

Accordingly, each will also get P20, oo0 from the Department of Social Welfare and Development as additional assistance soon.

In a statement, Governor Tubban lauded the success of the program in the province while expressing hope that President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the next administration will continue implementing the program to benefit more former rebels wanting to be reintegrated into the community.

Meantime, Bagyan as interviewed by PIO Kalinga extended his gratitude to the national government for the chance given him as well as the assistance he received.

"Gapu kadagituy a programa ket agsubli iti talek iti tao iti gobyerno. Makita laeng a saan datayo binay-an dagituy mangiturturong kanyatayo,”Governor Tubban stated.
