2 men injured during earthquake while doing construction work in Lubuagan

Lubuagan, Kalinga – Two men were reportedly injured in Lubuagan, Kalinga during the earthquake that hit Luzon past 8:00 in the morning today, July 27, 2022.


One was said to be working on the second floor of a building in Duyaas, Poblacion while the other was staying on the second floor of their house in Mabilong when the jolt happened, causing them to be off balance.


The injured individuals were Marvin Allit, 42, a construction laborer, and Bergan Guzman, 48. Romel Salbang, Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer II, said that Allit who was the one working on the second floor of a building fell, while Guzman sustained an injury in his left foot after jumping from their house.

The two were attended by the Lubuagan MDRRMO, Rural Health Unit and the Kalinga District Hospital.


Salbang likewise reported infrastructure damage from the earthquake in the municipality, saying that the Lubuagan Multi-Purpose Building in Poblacion sustained cracks on its beams, columns, and walls.


The earthquake likewise caused landslides in Agsiyang, Dangoy; Tiwod, Antonio Canao; and Sukiap, Tanglag.


Meantime, work in the government and private agencies in Lubuagan has been suspended by Mayor Joel Tagaotao.

The mayor has also ordered the MDRRMO to be ready for possible emergencies.


The public is advised to contact MDRRMO through 0906-354-1857 should there be any emergencies they encounter amidst possibilities of aftershocks.
