22-year-old man randomly stabs people in Baguio


Baguio City, Philippines – Six individuals who were randomly attacked by a 22-year-old man last night in Baguio City are now in stable condition.


Suspect John Eric Berido, 22 and a native of Sorsogon was arrested by the operatives at a hotel on Kisad Road on June 06, the Baguio City Police Office reported through Bombo Radyo Baguio.

Berido was accused of consecutively assaulting the six victims on said night.


His first two victims were Mark David Waguis, 22 and Lyka Futaquio, 24 whom he suddenly approached and stabbed while they were sitting at a waiting shed at Sunshine Park.


The suspect allegedly ran away and went to the direction of Governor Pack Road where he knifed two more individuals identified as Joseph Mallari Dizon, 28 and Paul Baldoza, 28.


Berido proceeded to a hotel on Kisad Road next where he stabbed Gemma Malnawan, 50 and Dona Balisalisa, 31 who were then standing at the entrance of the building.


The security guard tried to restrain the 22-year-old but the latter managed to attack people and destroy furniture at the hotel. He only stopped when police officers arrived and arrested him.


Motive behind the crime is currently being established by the police investigators.
