29-yr-old man missing in Kapangan, Benguet; Search continues after suspected drowning

KAPANGAN, Benguet — Search and rescue operations continue for a 29-year-old man who was reported missing in Barangay Sagubo, Kapangan, Benguet, following an alleged drowning incident.

The missing man was identified as Raul Aludos Juan, single and a resident of Sagubo. He was last known to have been missing since September 3, 2026, according to authorities.

The incident was reported to the Kapangan Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Emergency Operations Center at around 12 noon on September 5.

Following the report, the MDRRMO coordinated with barangay officials, the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to launch search and rescue efforts.

An initial search was conducted by barangay officials and volunteers, but no trace of Juan was found as of 9 p.m. on September 5.

The Search and Rescue (SAR) Team was subsequently activated, with an operational briefing conducted with barangay officials and responding personnel to coordinate the continuing search.

Authorities said search operations were to resume as teams continued efforts to locate Juan.

The public was also urged to provide any information that could help determine his whereabouts.

“No wada man di nakail-ila en sisya, message kayo uno pakibagaan yo ta sumaa. Tan nay madanagan di kapamilya na.” (If someone saw him, please message the authorities or tell him to go home as his family is worried about him.)
