3 kids buried alive in Benguet


La Trinidad, Benguet - Three kids ageing 2, 6 and 8 died after their house was buried by a landslide in Central Purok Ubbog, Ambiong, La Trinidad Benguet at around 8 PM on Monday, October 11, 2021, during the onslaught of Typhoon Maring.


Mayor Romeo Salda informed this Tuesday, October 12, 2021, in his interview with DZRH.


Accordingly, the kids, along with their parents, were having dinner when the landslide occurred, covering their house.


They were rescued and were rushed to the hospital, but were declared dead on arrival. The parents, meantime, survived the incident.


Typhoon Maring in the latest weather bulletin of PAGASA issued at 5:00 AM today was said to have slightly intensified and is now over the West Philippine Sea.

"At 4:00 AM today, the center of Severe Tropical Storm “MARING” was estimated based on all available data over 170 km West of Calayan, Cagayan. It has maximum sustained winds of 100 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 125 km/h and central pressure of 980hPa," DOST-PAGASA said.


Cordillera provinces namely Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Abra are still under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 while Ifugao and Benguet are under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1.


The typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this morning or afternoon.
