Government work in La Trinidad suspended today

Benguet, Philippines - With the threats of life, property and infrastructure brought about by Tropical Storm ‘Maring,’ all works in the government offices of La Trinidad are suspended today, October 12, 2021.


This is under Executive Order No. 115-2021 issued by Municipal Mayor Romeo Salda yesterday evening.


The order cites power outages, flooding, landslides and other erosion, including injuries, have been reported in various areas of the municipality caused by the continuous rains and gusty winds as of 7:46 PM of October 11, 2021.


“To allow the government personnel to secure their lives and property, and likewise focus their utmost attention to securing lives and property and attending to various emergencies, there arises the need to suspend work in government offices,” explains the order.


It further encourages the private sector to do the same.

Medical and emergency services to remain open


Meanwhile, offices providing medical and emergency services, particularly the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Municipal Engineering Office, and General Services Office shall be open on skeleton workforce to attend to medical and other emergencies.


This applies to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Municipal Health Services Office, and La Trinidad Operations Center.


All barangay officials are required to assign personnel to respond to calls or emergencies.

Appeal not to make ‘prank’ calls on emergency hotline


The Office of the Mayor on its Facebook post appealed for the public not to make false requests or prank calls on the emergency hotline.


“Time is of the essence during emergencies, and our rescuers are risking life and limb to secure us all,” stated the office.

As of writing, other municipalities, including Kapangan, Tublay, and Tuba, have also suspended works in the government offices.
