Tabuk City, Kalinga – Four of the 12 Tabuk young cyclists who joined the first Philippine Cycling Festival in Clark, Pampanga trail this June 04, 2022 secured spot in their designated category.

Jinky Damagon ranked 5th in the Women Elite Category (19 years old and above), Jemuel Aggalao placed 6th in Men Youth Category (14-16 years old), Rembrants Dalanao won 8th place in Men Juniors Category (17-18 years old), while Kaira Tan ranked 8th in Women Juniors (ages 17-18).

In an interview, the four cyclists stated the said festival is their first exposure in the national level competition.

While Damagon and Aggalao did not expect to get a place, Dalanao expressed his confidence due to his preparation.

When asked of their experience during the race, they shared it was overall fun but they likewise acknowledged that they were challenged of the trails that seemed foreign to them.

“Pirmi rigat na po dagiay obstacles karu ta awan ti kasdiay nga track ditoy Tabuk,” related Damagon.

Inspired to achieve their desired level of competency, the young cyclist pushed themselves and landed a place in the competition.

Though they did not receive a cash incentive, the cyclist felt honored to have joined the national festival.

“The whole experience is enough for me as a reward,” Dalanao said.

The cyclists thanked their sponsors and those who believed in them.

They asked that their supporters continue backing them up as they “promise to continue striving and training more to achieve the best for our province (and) to inspire others.”

Damagon, Aggalao, Dalanao, and Tan will carry on working out to be ‘pro cyclists’ in the future.
