₱30.6-MILLION CASH ASSISTANCE: OPT-Kalinga proposes ₱200K BBMP payout for 153 barangays on Sept 13

TABUK CITY, Kalinga — The Office of the Provincial Treasurer (OPT) is eyeing the distribution of the ₱200,000 Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program (BBMP) assistance to Kalinga’s 153 barangays during the province’s Handog ng Pangulo 2026 culminating event on September 13.

Provincial Treasurer Ma. Theresa G. Basitao raised the proposal during the Kapehan Meeting on September 7 at the New Conference Hall in Bulanao, chaired by Provincial Administrator Teddy Gullay.

Basitao suggested incorporating the BBMP distribution into the September 13 activity, subject to logistical arrangements and the capacity to accommodate representatives from all 153 barangays.

“I suggest that if it is possible that we will also distribute nalang dito yung sa Bawat Barangay Makikinabang Program with participants na 153 barangays across Kalinga... the P200,000 assistance,” Basitao said.

₱30.6 million for Kalinga barangays

Under the BBMP, each barangay is allocated ₱200,000. With Kalinga’s 153 barangays, the total allocation for the province amounts to ₱30.6 million.

Half of each barangay’s allocation, or ₱100,000, is intended for scholarships for five qualified fourth-year college students, with each scholar receiving ₱20,000.

The remaining ₱100,000 will be used for priority projects identified by the respective Barangay Local Government Units.

Basitao said the OPT is completing the documentary and financial requirements necessary for the release of the assistance.

The office is also preparing to organize the distribution by municipality and possibly by clusters of barangays to ensure an orderly and efficient process.

BBMP payout eyed during Handog ng Pangulo

The proposed distribution will form part of the Simultaneous Nationwide Culminating Event of Handog ng Pangulo 2026 on September 13, which will also feature various government services and assistance.

Among the activities lined up are the distribution of toolkits and financial assistance, free notarization of legal documents, ceremonial distribution of e-titles and other services for beneficiaries.

If finalized, the inclusion of the BBMP distribution would allow the provincial government to use the event as a venue for coordinating the release of the ₱200,000 allocation for each of Kalinga’s 153 barangays.
