5 robbers killed in gunfight with Tabuk police

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Five suspected members of a robbery and hold-up gang were killed during an armed encounter with the police on April 28, 2022 in Purok 5, Malalao.


Police Lieutenant Colonel Dinulong Tombali, Tabuk City Chief of Police narrated that early morning today, they were informed about the presence of five members of a robbery and hold-up gang operating in regions 2, 3 and 4 in Tabuk City.


The five were also said to be transporting suspected illegal drugs.

Dinulong said that the information made them decide to establish anti-criminality checkpoints in the city. He added that while conducting a checkpoint in Barangay Bulo, an incoming gray vehicle immediately accelerated, trying to runover some of the operatives. The passenger of the said vehicle likewise fired at them.


The police pursued the speeding car until Purok 5, Malalao where a gunfight ensued that resulted to the instant death of two men, one of them was the driver.

The three other suspects who also received gunshot wounds were rushed by the police to the Mejia Kim Hospital in Agbannawag but were declared dead on arrival.


Identities of the suspects are still being established. The neutralized individuals could be from Pampanga based on some of the identification cards recovered from the crime scene.

When the suspects’ vehicle was opened, the operating personnel were able to recover 23 bricks of suspected marijuana worth P2,760,000.

Also, the operatives recovered 4 pieces of Cal .45 firearms; 10 fcc Cal. 45; 10 fcc 9mm; 2 fcc 5.56mm; a fired bullet; 4 live ammunition of Cal 45; one live ammo of 9mm; and one inside holster. Lastly, a piece of M26 hand grenade was seized inside the suspects’ car.
