57-year-old man shot dead at slaughterhouse in Tuguegarao

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan - A government employee was shot dead at a slaughterhouse in Luna Street, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao City.

Police identified the victim as Genaro Matammu, 57, a resident of Arellano Extension, Ugac Norte, Tuguegarao City, and an employee of the said slaughterhouse.

Police said the shooting incident transpired at around 8 PM of Tuesday, June 28.

They recovered two bullets of an unknown firearm caliber and cotton pledget with blood at the crime scene.

As reported, Matammu was sitting in a mono block chair while having a conversation with his cousin, Luiz Mabborang, when an unidentified gunman draws near them and shot him in the head, resulting in his immediate death.

The suspect was wearing a red-white-and-blue jacket, white shorts, and a black helmet.

The gunman immediately fled away from the scene and went in the direction of Bassig Street, Ugac Sur, Tuguegarao using a black Honda wave motorcycle.

Notified of the incident, Tuguegarao police alarmed their comrades from nearby stations and conducted a hot pursuit operation for the possible capture of the suspect.

Video footage from closed-circuit television (CCTV) is being reviewed to help them identify and track down the killer.
