6 men charged for illegal logging in Tanudan

Tanudan, Kalinga – Six men recently ended up inside the cell of Tanudan Municipal Police Station for illegal logging violation.


The accused who were identified to be residents of Quirino Province were arrested by the police authorities on August 23, 2023, at Sitio Anago in Barangay Mabaca, Tanudan.

Police Regional Office Cordillera identified the suspects as Jhonel Manipon Detchoso, 21; Michael Jordan De Larma Mateo, 29; Alvin Ramos Batwagen Tondo, 25; Ricky Bale Lawi, 28; Richard Sikat Garma, 30; and Arnold Mateo Santos, 29.


The six were brought to police custody after authorities from the Tanudan police station, Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Kalinga, and the Local Government Unit of Tanudan headed by Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag proceeded to the area to verify reports on the alleged hauling of illegal lumber near the river bank.


The illegally cut Narra wood confiscated from the suspects was estimated to be 129.98 board feet in total and worth P64,990.


A case for violation of Presidential Decree 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines was filed against the suspects.


In December last year, 7 men from the same province were arrested for the same offense in Barangay Pangol, Tanudan.
