7-yr.-old boy drowns in swimming pool at own birthday party

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – A seven-year-old boy died while celebrating his own birthday at a private resort in Pallua Sur, Tuguegarao City, over the weekend.

Police said the victim was pulled from a pool during his party.

Accordingly, the kid was then swimming along with other children in a kiddie pool on said date.

Unnoticed, he was able to transfer to the adult pool, where he drowned. It was said that his father only went to get a camera when the incident happened.

A lifeguard who was then on duty came to his aid, but when brought to the Peoples Emergency Hospital, the kid was pronounced dead on arrival by an attending physician.

An investigation into the incident is now underway to determine whether there was negligence on the part of the resort or not.

At present, the remains of the victim, identified as Benz Isaiah Capala, are at their residence in Annafunan East, Tuguegarao City.
