Aguinaldo, Ifugao – A month after taking their oath, the legislative members of the Local Government Unit of Aguinaldo underwent a legislative Enhancement Course from August 10-11, 2022. This is to prepare them and add to their knowledge of local legislation.
In the two-day seminar, the participants were informed further about their impactful role in crafting responsive laws and policies that would help in the development of the municipality.
The Local Legislation course provided serves as an avenue for the councilors to make localized ordinances and resolutions which is vital in delivering better services, governance, peace, and order, among others.
Local law-related issues were also discussed, and solutions were presented and deliberated in said training.
Highlights of the training
For the first day, Engr. Miguel B. Dimalnat Jr., the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Secretary of the province of Ifugao, oriented the august body in public administration and local government administration.
The participants were likewise lectured on the Concepts of Local Legislation and what composed the Sangguniang Bayan, their roles, duties, and functions.
The legislative office is composed of the Sangguniang Bayan members, the Presiding Officer, and the SB Secretary.
On Thursday, August 11, the participants will be lectured regarding local legislative outputs, which include the drafting of ordinances and resolutions.
Dimalnat will orient them on how each session works – from Parliamentary Rules and Procedure, Order of Business, Presiding, Motions, Voting, to Decorum.
To conclude the training, Perlie Uchayan will present before the council members a sample legislative agenda.
