Apayao, Philippines – The provincial government of Apayao under the leadership of Governor Elias Bulut Jr. has assured P500,000 aid to defray the expenses of the delegates sent to represent the province in Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) meet 2023.
This year’s regional athletic meet and socio-cultural festival participated by Apayao State College (ASC), Ifugao State University (IFSU), Abra State Institute of Science and Technology (ASIST), Benguet State University (BSU), Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC), and the host university - Kalinga State University (KSU), started Tuesday, April 18 and is set culminate on Friday, April 21.
As the 275 athletes and artists, along with 109 coaches and delegation officials, embark on the four-day regional match, ASC sought the PLGU’s financial help to which, the latter granted, the Provincial Information Office said in a press release.
“The governor (Elias C. Bulut Jr.) has always been supportive of the youth and we make sure there is readied help. In return, we expect they do well… sapay koma ta ipapati da,” Provincial Administrator, Atty. Edmar Pascua stated through the said office.
The half million aid, the information office added, shall cover transportation, rent or purchase of costumes for the socio-cultural competitions, combative uniforms, and gears, among others.
Players are competing in various sporting events such as arnis, boxing, karate, Muay Thai, taekwondo, Pencak Silat, athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, e-games, football, futsal, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, and volleyball.
Artists, on the other hand, contended for socio-cultural which include theater and visual arts, music, dances, and others.
Winning participants will advance to the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) later this year.
