Balbalan, Kalinga – Boosting its development agenda, the municipal government of Balbalan in Kalinga recently acquired P10.9 million worth of heavy equipment.
Balbalan Information Office said the previous administration initiated the purchase by passing an appropriation ordinance, appropriating P11 million for a backhoe. That time, the bidding process failed “due to the BAC (Bids and Awards Committee) posting an offer of P8 million as its Approved Budget Cost of purchase, as determined by the BAC from shopping purposes of getting the market price.”
When the Malannag administration pursued the same amount of offer for interested bidders, they succeeded.
Mayor Almar Malannag then requested to the Sangguniang Bayan that the remaining P3 million be realigned for the purchase of two units of dump trucks.
Last week, the Municipal Information Office reported the local government unit received the brand-new backhoe costing P7,993,000 and the two units of dump trucks amounting to P2,999,500.
The heavy equipment will be utilized for various construction projects, including road maintenance, rehabilitation, and implementation of infrastructures.
Malannag remains optimistic that the new heavy equipment, to be handled by the dedicated operators, will bolster his administration’s agenda on infrastructure progress.
