Updated: Nov 22, 2022

Conner, Apayao – Five recipients of the “Balik Probinsiya, Bagong Pag-asa” (BP2) Program in Conner, Apayao received agri-based livelihood aid from the regional Department of Agriculture on Thursday, September 08, 2022.

The BP2 program is geared towards addressing Metro Manila’s congested urban areas by encouraging people, especially informal settlers to return to their home provinces and assist them in this transition with support and incentives on transportation, family, livelihood, housing, subsistence and education, among others.

Under said program, the government will introduce a sustainable project scheme to the returning families.

In Conner, Apayao, the five families who embraced the government offer were each provided two heads of gilt and starter pack containing four bags of animal feeds, various vegetable seeds, and one set of farming tools, as reported by DA-Cordillera in a press release.

The assistance, according to Field Operations Division - Special Programs Coordination Section Head Lito Mocati, is part of the farm diversification and livelihood development component of the BP2 program.

In addition, existing Farmers’ Cooperative and Associations (FCAs) in Conner and Flora, Apayao, that are linked to the recipients were likewise given livelihood assistance. Accordingly, each FCA received four heads of gilts and 16 bags of animal feeds.

Training on skills and organizational development were also provided to ensure project materialization.

Conner Mayor Jorico F. Bayaua encouraged the recipients to sustain the livelihood projects and asked other families who returned to the province from Metro Manila to apply and avail of the grant.
