Pasil, Kalinga – Barangay Cagaluan in Pasil, Kalinga is the municipality’s entry in the Search for 2022 Outstanding Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (BDRRMC), announced MDRRM Officer Marlyn Pagutayao on Thursday, July 14, 2022.
Said search was conceptualized by the Provincial DRRMC as part of the month-long activities in observance of the National Disaster Resilience Month 2022.
According to Pagutayao, Cagaluan BDRRMC was chosen as the council has been compliant with the minimum requirements of BDRRMC functionality such as facilitating capacity training activities for responders in the locality, among others.
Cagaluan likewise consolidated local disaster risk information, including natural hazards, vulnerabilities, and climate change risks, as well as maintained a local risk map.
The barangay bet already prepared necessary documents, rescue tools, and supplies in preparation for the province-wide search where cash prizes await winners.
Pagutayao challenged other barangays in the municipality to likewise pursue their DRRMC functionality, not only for their recognition but for the safety of their constituents in times of disaster-related eventualities.
